Levent ELBEYLİ

He was born in Gaziantep in November 1958. He completed his primary education at Gaziantep Mehmetçik Primary School and his secondary and high school education at Gaziantep College Foundation.

Graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1982, Prof. Dr. Elbeyli did his compulsory service in Çayıralan District of Yozgat between 1982-1984.

He completed his specialty education at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery between 1984-1989. Working as a specialist at the same university until September 1990, Prof. Dr. Elbeyli started to work at Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine with the title of Assistant Professor in 1990.

He worked as a visiting professor at the "Berlin Lungenklinik heckeshorn" between 1993-1994 by Prof. Dr. Working with Dick Kaiser, Elbeyli received the title of Associate Professor of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in 1996, and was promoted to Professor in 2002.

He assumed the duties of Head of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Department between 1990 and 2003 and Head of Thoracic Surgery Department between 2003-2017 at Gaziantep University.

Prof. Gaziantep University Local Ethics Committee Chairman for two terms. Dr. Elbeyli served as the Chief Physician of Gaziantep University Şahinbey Research and Application Hospital between 2008-2013. He took part in the establishment of the Medical Faculty Emergency Service and the Intensive Care Unit and was its coordinator for a long time.

He served as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine until 2016, when he was appointed by the Higher Education Board in 2013. Dr. Elbeyli started the accreditation process of the Faculty of Medicine as the Dean.

Carrying out the Chairman of the Board of the Turkish Chest Association for two terms between 2013 and 2018, Prof. Dr. Elbeyli retired after completing 36 years of government service in 2017 and worked in a private hospital for 3 years.

prof. Dr. Elbeyli has 105 scientific publications. 35 of them were published in international refereed journals in English and 70 in national refereed journals in English and Turkish. He has many scientific papers, 32 of which are international and 81 are national. He has served as speaker and session chair in many national and international congresses, meetings, symposiums and courses.

Undertaking the chairmanship of the National Congress of the Thoracic Surgery Association and the congresses organized with the Turkish Lung Cancer Society, Prof. Dr. Elbeyli is on the referee board of international and national scientific journals. Managing 5 specialization theses, Prof. Dr. Elbeyli is a chapter author in 3 national and one international books.

prof. Dr. As of March 2020, Elbeyli started to accept pediatric and adult patients in the Thoracic Surgery Clinic at SANKO University Hospital. Professor, who is also the Head of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at SANKO University Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Elbeyli's field of study is congenital infective diseases of the lung, benign and malignant tumors of the lung and mediastinum, deformities of the thorax, airway problems, endoscopic resections and all interventional procedures.

He is a member of Turkish Medical Association, Turkish Thoracic Surgery Association, Turkish Thoracic Society, Turkish Respiratory Research Association, Lung Health and Intensive Care Association, Turkish Lung Cancer Association, Turkish Cancer Research and Control Institution, European Thoracic Surgery Association, and speaks English.
