Mehmet YILMAZ

He was born in Gaziantep. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Gaziantep. He graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 1984. In 1995, he started his Internal Diseases and Hematology Specialization training at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital.

After completing his hematology residency training, he worked as a hematologist for 1 year at Gaziantep Public Hospitals Union Ersin Aslan Training and Research Hospital in 2003. In 2004, he founded the Department of Hematology at Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine.

In 2007, he worked on stem cell and therapeutic apheresis at Leiden Medical Center in the Netherlands for 3 months. He received the title of associate professor in 2007. Between 2008 and 2009, he received bone marrow transplantation training at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit. He worked as an assistant responsible physician in the establishment of the bone marrow transplant center established in September 2009 at Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine. After the therapeutic apheresis regulation came into effect in March 2010, he established the Therapeutic Apheresis Center in Gaziantep in October 2010 and continued his duty as the responsible physician of this unit. He served as a consultant physician in the flow cytometry unit.

He received the title of professor in 2013. He worked in 11 international clinical research projects. He has 48 publications and 44 papers published in international scientific journals, 24 nationally published publications and 90 papers. Dr. Yılmaz has 9 awards received at the national level and in the field of medicine.

He is a member of the Board of the Hematology Specialist Association and the Experimental Hematology Association. He is also a member of Turkish Hematology Association, Apheresis Association, European Hematology Association Gaziantep Hemophilia Association and Gaziantep Thalassemia Association. He is married and has 2 children.

prof. Dr. Yılmaz, who has been working as the Head of the Department of Internal Diseases at SANKO University Faculty of Medicine as of November 1, 2017, has started the establishment of the Department of Hematology.
