Ahmet A. BALIK

In 1989, he graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. In 1997, he was appointed as a lecturer at Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery, where he completed his speciality training in 1996.

In 2002, Prof. Dr. Balık, who received the title of ‘Associate Professor’, was a visiting professor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2003. In 2004, he was appointed as a faculty member to Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery. In 2008, he became ‘Professor’. He served as the Head of the Department of Surgical Sciences and a member of the faculty board of directors at the same university. In 2008, he founded the organ transplantation centre, which started to perform liver and kidney transplantation in 2009.

He served as a member of the board of directors of the Turkish Hepato Pancreato Biliary Surgery Association between 2013-2019 and as the Chairman of the Board of Directors between 2017-2019.

He is a member of The Transplant Society, International Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Association, European-Asian Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Association, Turkish Surgical Association, Endoscopic Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Association, Turkish Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Association.

He has over 100 publications in international and national scientific journals and over 1000 international citations to these publications.

Gastrointestinal (stomach and intestine) oncological surgery, liver, pancreas and biliary tract surgery are his main areas of interest.
